Special Education Department, Faculty of Education (PLB FIP) UNY on Thursday, September 23th 2021 held a bold meeting with parents and guardians of the new class of 2021 students who came from various regions across the country.

This event was attended by, Bambang Saptono, M.Sc. as Vice Dean for General Affairs and Finance FIP, Dr. Hermanto, M.Pd. (Head of the PLB Department) and Pujaningsih, M.Pd., Ed.D. (Secretary of the PLB Department).

Through his speech, Mr. Bambang Saptono said that he was very happy to be able to meet the parents of students even though it was through online meeting, He hopes if in the future they could synergize together for the progress of the studies of all new PLB FIP UNY students.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please, do not hesitate to convey things that are considered important to be discussed together," said Bambang Saptono.

On this occasion, Bambang Saptono also added that the maximum student study period is usually 6 years, but it is possible that it will end in 4 years or even 3.5 years.

For students who continue their education to a higher level, Bambang Saptono also suggests that after graduation they can immediately continue their studies at the Master Degree level (postgraduate) in the Department of Special Education.

Head of the PLB Department, Hermanto added that parents can access UNY's SIAKAD (Academic Information System) to unify the grades of the courses taken by the students concerned. Hermanto also added that during this pandemic, parents are also obliged to unite their children to continue studying at home even though they are not studying online.

"Learning is not only during lectures, outside of class hours students are also required to study on their own," said Hermanto.

Parents or guardians of students can have free time with the department, especially with the Head of Study Program if there are indeed obstacles for students to be able to graduate with a high GPA (Grade Point Average).

"Try every semester to have a GPA above 3.00 so that you can take 22 credits so you can immediately complete theory, then focus on your final project and graduate immediately," added Hermanto.

Special Education Department of UNY will also give appreciation and opportunities to develop talent for students in the fields of research, sports or the arts.
