Application of Al-Quran Signs (QIRAT) Amazes the Judges of the National Writing Contest

A new era of education is characterized by peeragogy and cybergogy because the COVID-19 impact presents a challenge for teachers to continue innovating and creating effective learning. The difficulty of direct face-to-face and physical contact in learning is a serious challenge because the attention, concentration, and practice of students are difficult to monitor. One such challenge occurred in religious learning activities: reading and memorizing the Al-Qur'an for deaf children. The limitation of accommodative resources for reading and memorizing the Al-Qur’an is what inspired a team of PLB students to create innovative learning media. The team led by Dewi Meiliyan Ningrum, with team members Nunu Nurfadilah and Vially Putri Lestari, created an application of Al-Quran Signs (QIRAT) that can be used by children with hearing impairment. The excellent thing about this application is that it is created with sign movement accompanied by interpreting for lip shape pronunciation, the videos tutorial, and the validation of user movements as evaluations. The menu contained in the application consists of a list of the surah, a list of the movements of Arabic letters, and the validation of user movements. In the validation of this movement, children with hearing impairment record movements on a smartphone screen, and then the application will scan to determine movement accuracy. Surely the application's development will make it easier for children with hearing impairment to read and memorize the Al-Qur’an on their own, especially during online learning. The team is guided by Rendy Roos Handoyo, M. Pd. who successfully won third place at the National Scientific Writing Competition on the Anniversary of the Faculty of Education 71st. The product that was developed is currently in the prototype stage and will continue to be validated until it could be disseminated. the team is motivated to continue to develop products that can be useful for children with hearing impairment. Support was also given by the judges when the team was presenting, they were expecting the product will be continued to propagate so that it made it easier for the learning to read and memorize the Al-Qur’an for children with hearing impairment.
